Committee on Museum Education Discusses Engaging Communities

The International Museum of Cultures wants to note that the Standing Professional Committee on Education (EdCom) of the American Association of Museums (AAM) in collaboration with the Museum Education Roundtable (MER), called for Applications for the 2012 Museum Education Marketplace of Ideas.

The 2012 AAM Annual Meeting will be held in Minneapolis, MN on Monday, April 30, 2012, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The theme for this year’s Marketplace is Engaging Communities, Creating Community.

The Marketplace of Ideas showcases educators and organizations that are experimenting with new ideas in learning in museum environments, innovations in exhibition interpretation, creative community partnerships, models for program evaluation, engaging use of new technologies, and other ways museums of all disciplines are developing engaging experiences.

Here at the International Museum of Cultures (IMC),  we are also committed to engaging the community through educational programs.

We provide  anthropology-based educational programs that focus on teaching students to respect and understand other cultures. We have a variety of programs that can be easily integrated into your curriculum (science, social studies, fine arts, English language arts, and math)  and are fun and interactive for students.

Contact us at the International Museum of Cultures (972-708-7406) to learn more about our educational programs. We will be happy to work with Educators to ensure our programs fit and complement curriculums.
