Sad news: the passing of Edna Jane Travis, friend and supporter of the museum

The staff and Board of Trustees of the International Museum of Cultures were saddened to hear of the passing of Edna Jane Travis last night, long time friend and supporter of the museum, after a battle with cancer. We extend our deepest sympathies to Ms. Travis’ family and friends. Ms. Travis supported the museum’s week long Day Camp each Summer, which is named for her. She was a wonderful friend of so many staff and volunteers at the museum; she will be deeply missed.
There will be a service at 2 pm on Friday at the Activity Center on the campus of the International Linguistics Center, just across from the museum’s rear entrance. We will close just before 2 pm so that the museum staff can attend the service.

  1. Thank you to so many of you who have sent memorial gifts in memory of Edna Jane. The museum was a great love of hers and we will develop an appropriate memorial when all the funds are received.

There will be a memoral performance of the Daniel Cordoba Folklorica in February at the museum. Daniel and I are working on the setting and details as a special tribute to Edna Jane. She has performed with this group for many years and on numerous occassions at the museum.
